Have you ever been on vacation and are looking for a good place to eat, and all you find is overpriced junk food?
All you wanted was to have a nice meal and good atmosphere? Then the Salty Dog is the place for you!
The Salty Dog will always be a place that is important to me on my vacation to Hilton Head Island. The Salty Dog
was founded from the legend of Jake the dog, on the iconic t-shirts, who saved his owner, Captain John by swimming
for three days straight after a 20-foot wave sank their boat during a storm. They also have a signature drink the Salty Dog
that goes along perfectly with shrimp and grits. The Salty Dog is truly one of a kind place to eat and enjoy because of the
food, view, and you can not forget the story behind it. One of the most important parts of a restaurant is the food,
without it going to a restaurant would be just straight up awkward. My all-time favorite appetizer at the Salty Dog
is the Southern Fried pickles. They were so good that I thought my mom made them. The crunchy breading on the
outside and the soft and juicy pickles on the inside just hit perfectly.
One of the best meals at the Salty Dog is the Shrimp and grits. The "stone ground grits" the menu states are a perfect match with "the tender sautéed wild caught American shrimp". After trying some of my mom's shrimp, I fell in love at first bite. All night I could not get my mind off of those beautiful shrimp and grits. I finally got my mind off the shrimp and grits once I tried the root beer float. The combination of the fizzy sweet drink and sweet and tangy vanilla ice cream was outstanding. I had tried many root beer floats in my life; there was nothing quite like this one. The food was so perfectly cooked and prepared that I thought it came from my mom's kitchen. I am very impressed by the quality and the taste of the food. A very important part of my experience at the Salty Dog is the aesthetic view of the ocean. As we were eating, I would look out the window at the beautiful view, and my parents would tell me to focus on the food. I was in between out the window and consuming the delicious food. The perfect time to look at the view is at sunset As the sun sinks down behind the stunning ocean. As you look at the window or over the dock you see a beautiful and stunning sunset cannot be seen anywhere else. The atmosphere around is a very important part of the view and the experience for your eyes and your memory. As you look out at the stunning view of the ocean you hear the chitter chatter of the people all around and the quiet jazzy music playing. I was not expecting the view that I got for the Salty Dog. If you love a panoramic view and outstanding food, the Salty Dog is the place for you. All restaurants have some type of story behind them, some are small and some are big, but none are like the Salty Dog's. The Salty Dog gets its odd name from a dog named Jake, in local lore who saved his owner John in the 1980s. Jake swam three days and three nights after a 20-foot wake hit their boat when carrying his owner John to safety. In 1987 the café opened up, and has been hosting social events since the very beginning. Families from all over the Island that live there or are visiting for vacation come and in Easter egg hunt and other things, making a social and welcoming vibe. Not only that but the Salty Dog also gives boat tours where you get an even better chance to see the vibrant sunset. Turning the Salty Dog into more than just a restaurant but a social hub where you can meet so many new friends. The Salty Dog has been representing loyalty, bravery, adventure, friendship, and good food since 1987. The Salty Dog has been an awesome place since 1987. For example, the food was so perfectly cooked and prepared. Another thing that stands out from the rest is the view, fiery at sunset and soft and warm sunrise. The last thing that makes the Salty Dog a truly one of a kind place is the story behind it. The Salty Dog is truly one of a kind place to eat and enjoy because of the food, view, and you can not forget the story behind it. I would one hundred percent recommend the Salty Dog to anyone who is looking for a restaurant with tender and delicious food, panoramic view, and a meaningful story behind it. |
